September 17, 2021
“Your happiness will not come from your success. Your success will come from your Happiness”
Kathryn Budig shares 5 tips of how to get out of your own DEFAULT mode. Default is when we are on auto pilot. It’s time to take a moment and check in with ourselves so we can get out of our head and more in the MOMENT.
When you look at the science of the mind, it starts to make sense that we fill empty space with negative assumptions instead of positive ones. If you have a spiritual practice you understand the past and future aren’t even real.
TAME your default mode with these 5 tips:
-
Movement - the “high we look for. The endorphins help to clear out the clouding in your mind. Get back to your center. 5 sun salutations, repetition to a task or action. Get outside in nature!
Take time to find ways you can move your body, choose things that work for you. If you enjoy stretching do some yoga, if you prefer running go get outside and run. Make movement a priority. When you move your body, you will in turn move your mind. -
Mindfulness. Stop thinking it's all about YOU. We can easily get wrapped up in thinking of ourselves in default mode.
Take a moment. Breathe in and out. Focus on your breath. Bring your awareness to this very moment and notice how you feel. Bringing awareness to the present time through mindfulness even just a few breaths can get us out of default mode. -
READING. Education. Self study - recognize what your default mode is and bring awareness to what you NEED.
Get educated. Or read a super fun story. Create a ritual that moves your mind. Free yourself from the constraints we have can spark motivation and inspiration. -
Be curious. When we are curious, we can get out of default mode.
Ask yourself today what sparks your curiosity. Write it down and begin asking questions. What brings you joy? Who are you around? What are you watching? Listening to? What is peaking your interest? Go there. -
Disconnect. Get out in nature. Take a full breath.
Put your phone down and go outside. Take a walk. Slow down and allow the chatter to calm. Recognize there are seasons and when you need to take a moment or go hard… do what you need. Give yourself the love you give to others. Take a moment to do what you need.
