Time to DEBUNK the top 3 myths associated with self-care. Have you ever felt guilty taking time for yourself?

Most of us, especially in the mom crowd get an immense dose of guilt and shame when we say NO to something so we can say YES to ourselves.

A study in 2019 showed 67% of people want more self-care and 1 in 3 of us feel guilty about taking it.

Top 3 Self-Care Myths

  1. Self-Care is Selfish
  2. Self-Care is Expensive
  3. I am not worthy

Here’s the scoop. Self-care is all about taking responsibility for our well-being. There are 6 pillars of health: Physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and financial.

Ask yourself right now: What am I doing for self-care in these 6 areas?

Top 3 Myths

1) Self-care is selfish

This one is definitely my personal fave. And it couldn’t be farther from the truth. I used to feel deep down totally selfish for MAKING time for my own self-care. Self-care is about taking care of ourselves, not taking from others. The intention behind self-care is to enhance how we feel so we will have more to give.

2) Self-care is expensive

Have you ever thought about self-care and immediately get images in your head of massages and expensive bathrobes? That is typically the images many of us have seen around self-care and great news - that is not TRUE.

Self-care is doing the things you NEED in order to be well. This could be moving our bodies, drinking more water, making that dentist appointment, and taking time to BREATHE.

Imagine for a moment if you did these things on a regular basis how you would feel.

3) I am not worthy

In order to grow strong, we need to nourish the roots. Our inner child probably went through some trauma whether we know it or not and is keeping us STUCK in the mindset that self-care is for others but not ourselves.

That deep down we may not even feel like we DESERVE it. News flash
