Ready for 20 journal writing prompts to reflect on this past year? The end of the year is a great time to pause and reflect on what has happened.

Hard to believe the end of 2021 is very near, and soon we enter 2022. Many of us did our best to resume life before 2020, and overall we made strides.

Between pop culture, moments like Bernie Sanders mittens going viral, Tik Tok hitting over 1 billion downloads, Britney being FREE after 13 years, and saying farewell to the Kardashians, this year has had many more than just pop culture moments within it.

Believe it or not, but even during the pandemic, there are moments that we will all forget — many of which you may want to and some that slip away.

Reflection is a way to give our brain a nice pause, and despite the chaos around us we can sort through experiences and reflection helps us to form a new vision.

We use the WAVE system in this process to enhance the areas of our life we want to and can find baby steps within this model:

  1. Well Being: Focus on what it means to you to be well. Define well-being in your own life today.
  2. Awareness: Collecting data, reflection, asking ourselves questions to understand where we are.
  3. Vision: Once we know where we are, we can create a vision for our next step.
  4. Energy: Wherever you place your energy and attention is where you will go.

When doing this exercise, feel free to go through each question one by one, or pick and choose the ones that speak to you to help with journal writing prompts.

You can come back to it at any time and do your best to allow your subconscious mind to speak to you.

Power of the subconscious mind

The subconscious mind controls most of your actions, it is like a computer processor which collects data and is habit-based. It stores your past, your beliefs, all the data of your life. It is the worker bee of your mind working 24/7 even when you have no idea it is working.

The importance of self-reflection

Self-reflection allows us to see where we are now so we can make room for change. Often times we run through life working a job we don’t like or in a relationship that is unhealthy or in a body that is unwell because we are just running.

We are not aware and self-reflection is an incredible tool to help us grow and live the life we imagine.

Once you have completed your self-reflection, join others in our New You 2022 6-Week course.
